It's amazing how contagious walking is!
I started my transformation to the new me on August 21, 2006. I was tired of being overweight and out of shape. So I signed up for a nutrition program that proportioned food for me and gave me an eating plan. I stuck to the program faithfully and started seeing the weight come off.
After about two months of tackling the food portion of my journey, I decided to start exercising. I wasn’t at a place where going to a gym was something that I was comfortable with, but I also knew that sticking to something on my own would be hard. I came across Leslie Sansone’s DVD “Walk Away the Pounds: 1, 2, and 3 Mile Walk”. I bought it and thought that I would try it. With the help of a colleague at work, we both started walking to Leslie’s DVD during our lunch time at work. Soon, we began to see how easy it was to follow her DVD and so we decided to start walking an additional mile after work as well… eventually, we worked up to one mile at lunch, and two miles after work.
A year later of watching my portions, using the nutrition program, and walking with Leslie I was 140 pounds lighter and weighing 156! My health was back and I was in the best shape of my life!
Today, almost three years later, I am maintaining my weight loss by applying all that I have learned about nutrition and exercise to my daily life. I continue to walk with my colleague and Leslie’s DVDs at least four times a week. I walk one mile at lunch and then two miles after work. My colleague and I have even started a walking program for our students at our school where we walk with Leslie’s DVD together, completing one mile during our lunch time. It’s amazing how contagious walking is!
