Hi Walkers!

We all know the feeling. The alarm clock has gone off three times and all you want to do is stay curled up under the comforter. You finally leave work after a stressful day of deadlines and conference calls and all you want to do is make it home so you can collapse on the couch.

While we all have days when a workout is just not possible, it is easy to fall into a routine of excuses that keep us from getting active. Luckily, there are some surefire ways to break away from the excuses and help make exercise part of your weekly routine.

1. Lay out your workout clothes the night before. And if you really want motivation, lay them out next to your alarm clock, so you have to look at them every time you hit the snooze button!

2. Don’t scrimp on your workout gear; make sure you have enough outfits to work out for seven days. That way not having clean clothing is never an excuse to go hit the gym. Also, make sure you workout clothes make you feel good – it will make you more likely to want to put them on.

3. Commit to 10 minutes of exercise. If you can get through 10 minutes of exercise you are more likely to keep going and get in a full workout. If not, you did 10 minutes more than before you started!

4. Stop believing that exercise has to be torture. Just because you’re not in severe physical pain or discomfort during your workout does not mean it’s not effective. Learn to enjoy activities that get you active, and you’ll be more likely to stick with them!

5. Find a buddy – or two, or three – and make a pact to motivate each other. Their encouragement will help you stay positive, even when the last thing you want to do is workout!

Hopefully these tips will help you create a workout routine that makes sense for you and your busy lifestyle.

We’re curious:

 • What excuses keep you from working out?
 • Who is your biggest motivator?
 • How do you make time to be active each week?

Walk ON friends!

What excuses keep me from working out? - I work 10 hours a day so on the four days I work each week, I definately just want to come home and fall on the couch! I've been trying to just commit to doing one mile on the days I work but then I get frustrated with myself because I know that is not enough to help me lose weight. Who is my biggest motivator?? I'm lacking in motivation right now, however, when I put on one of your workouts, I always smile and listen to your words of encouragement and then I feel better....if only I could have you speak to me each day with new words of encouragement, wisdom and advice then maybe I could do better........hmm, guess this blog of yours could be really good for me! How do I make time to be active each week?....it's easy for me to be active on my 3 day weekends because my husband and I do not have any children so there is no problem scheduling time for exercise or going on a walk together etc. I'm a nanny so during the week my active times is caring for a 5 year old and 8 month old !

Dear Leslie & Everyone... For starters, I'm in the minority here (I'm a male), and I will be the first to admit that in no way, shape or form, did I ever think that walking would be a challenging form of fitness..(I was far too manly for this!) Well, I am happy to be wrong on this occasion. You see, I have had to tone down the impact to deal with injuries over the years, and I was one who truly believed that if you weren't exhausted and spent after a workout, well then, you didn't work out. Again, wrong! I must share that walking has improved everything about my life..my marriage, my job, my dealings with friends. All the males on my side of the family have dealt with depression, including me. I learned everything I possibly could about the disease while recovering, and the one thing that I kept coming back to was the importance of exercise. Not only do your walking workouts challenge me on the physical level, they also boost my mood like no exercise I have done, which is equally important to me, and the thing I'd like to share is just how easy it is to improve everything about ourslves by simply putting one foot in front of the other. Kudos to those of you that know this already..and great for me for finally realizing just how great these workouts are, and if you're going to walk, why not walk with the best in the game, so hear I am, a devoted new fan that hopes to get the message across to my fellow males, and anyone else..you don't have to cry uncle to put yourself in the best physical & mental shape of your life..all you have to do is walk..who knew??? I guess all of you did!! I am glad to be here! Jerry, Rio Grande, NJ

Hi Fellow Walkers, I have just started trying to incorporate a regular fitness routine into my schedule, but already I feel so much better! What works for me is to do my walks first thing in the morning. I spent so much time just hitting the snooze button instead of getting out of bed. I wanted to start working out, and I knew if I just stopped hitting the snooze button and instead got out of bed I could fit in a workout and still be on time for work. This way, my workout is already done before my busy day starts, so I don't find myself excusing away the workout time. I have also found that doing the workout first thing in the morning has been very positive as a way to start the day. I wake up and do something really great for myself, and that positive energy keeps me going throughout the work day. Thanks Leslie!

I just can't get up & work out to the videos before work. And when I come home, sometime it's 7:00, I just can't do it. Too hot here to walk outside, so I must do my videos which I would rather to anyway. Also, I have a bad knee that needs replacing. Somedays it is just too swollen to work out. But 2 years ago I lost 60 lbs doing my Walk Away the Pounds videos & Weight Watchers. I've gained back around 10 lbs & would really like to get those back off. I read your approach to no excuses, so I will try these. Maybe 10 minutes a few times a day will help. Thanks,

The Walk in Faith DVDs have been so motivational for me. Even when I think I'll just do 15 minutes, I'll keep on going to the end because I don't want to stop. Thanks!

Leslie, I discovered your walking program a few years ago, when I checked out a DVD from my local library. This is the BEST exercise program for me! I don't want to exercise. I'll admit it, I'd much rather plop down on the couch in front of the TV or with a good book anytime! But I know that's just not the healthy thing for me to do. For me, it's really not about losing weight as it is about not gaining too much. And your walking workouts are easy to do and they make me sweat! :) Your DVDs are very motivating, and I think this blog will be a big help! Thank you!

Over the years (23 to be exact!) I've used all the excuses out there for why I couldnt or wouldnt exercise - the predominant ones were "no time" and "cant get to the gym or walk outside". When it happens NOW its because I tell myself I "dont have time". Since I more often go to my one milers now, I've NO excuse now - 15 minutes at a time is EASY to find, and its easy to find 15 minutes SEVERAL times a day!! I have an arsenal of 'motivators' now - how great I feel after walking just encourages me to keep it up; weight/inches lost really motivates me to continue; knowing the good it does for me will help me be the best me for my family keeps me walking strong; and staying in contact with others on their fitness journey motivates me to stay the course as well; and most importantly- YOU LESLIE!!! Your kind and encouraging words are always what I need to hear as I walk with you!! So glad we have this new outlet to reach you and be in touch with others in this Life's Journey!!!

I just now e mailed my brother this page to show him your perspective. After looking over your blog I saved and will be returning to read your messages!

Leslie's dvd, "Walk Away the Pounds", has inspired and motivated me to get in shape. I have not missed a day since July 13. Each morning, the first thing I do is pop in her dvd. It is so easy and the time seems to just fly by.........wish I would have had this years ago. I am 59 and just want to say if I can do this, everyone can. What an inspiration she is!!

The best thing that I did, besides buy the first DVD of "Walk Away the Pounds", was to join the walk club. The women in the group I'm in help inspire me each day and help motivate me to keep going. I joined the walk club at the end of June and started walking regularly since then. The best thing I could have done was to buy the first program DVD. Thanks for everything.

My biggest excuses - hard to decide on that because I have so many! But, if I had to pick 2, I'd say, my age (I'm 63) and the fact that I broke my foot in three places 3 years ago and haven't been able to walk the same ever since! Now, the fact that it was 3 years ago doesn't get in my way! An excuse is an excuse! What is my biggest motivator? I haven't really had any until now! YOU are definitely a great motivator - gentle, beautiful, fit and a wonderful encourager all throughout your videos! I am thrilled to find you! I just did my first workout and definitely felt it, even though, I too was skeptical that "just walking" especially at home, couldn't possibly do anything for me! I can already see that you have proved me wrong. I felt my heart rate go up and could barely get through the first (basic one mile) workout, I am embarrased to admit! I have a lot of weight to lose at 5'6 and over 235 lbs. I am at risk for heart disease, diabetes, and so many other diseases. If this works, it could save my life, quite literally. Again, I am so thankful to have found you. You are doing something so amazing and so important for all of us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Home loans are lending vehicles designed to help people purchase and/or improve real estate. There are a variety home loan options available to consumers, depending on their personal needs and circumstances. Actual mortgage rates can depend on the vehicle selected and the personal credit standing of the borrower. Figuring out which home loans make the most sense will depend on whether a borrower is looking to purchase new or is considering mortgage refinancing.

I just found your blog and I love it! I don't make excuses. There are days I am tired and I actually tell myself No Excuses! I have always exercised but a few years ago I became very ill. After 7 years I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome. During this time I was not able to exercise due to my symptoms. Once I was on medication and feeling a little better I had gained a ton of weight. I was watching t.v. and saw an infomercial for WATP With Weights and ordered it. I have never turned back. I could barely do a mile but I kept at it every day. Fast forward and I have lost 57 pounds and can now do 45 minutes of step aerobics. I still rely on Leslie's workouts as the foundation of my exercise program. My motivation is of course Leslie but also my huband and sons. They have seen the transformation both physically and in my health. My husband used to be a runner and had to stop due to tendon issues. He has an injured achilles tendon and a torn rotator cuff. He is a very fit guy who tried Leslie after I coaxed him to. He is now one of her biggest fans. He has maintained his fitness level and his range of motion in his shoulder has increased when doing weights at the gym. He puts in 12 hours a day and never makes excuses not to do a Leslie walk. As a result of his committment to fitness we don't eat until 8:00 p.m. One other thing motivates me, my health and the fact that some of the markers of inflammation from my illness have gone down since I started exercising. There have been times they were normal! I look at Leslie as my medicine and I won't skip my daily dose! To those who think you can't do it, You can. I was over 250 pounds and very sick. If I can do it, you can do it. You just need to start small and work your way up. You deserve to be healthy and have the life you desire. Without your health, you have nothing. There is no cure for my illness but you can bet I won't let it beat me, I am fighting back.

I started on the Jon Gabriel Method in September 2010, and have never felt so good..... I have dieted all my life only to gain it back and more. At last a programme that works for me..... no guilt......learning how to turn off the fat switch.... Well on the " Forum" of the Jon Gabriel Method.... I looked up exercise and one of them suggested the Mile Walk with Leslie Sansone. So I started about 4 weeks ago and I do it regularly. I do have 15 minutes....I certainly found 15mins or more to overeat.... Now I want to purchase the other videos..... I am 65yrs young and enjoying the exercise..... I am 11 kilos lighter.... The emphasis is only Relax, Let,Go and Let it Happen...... I have 20kgs. to go....... Hope this will inspire my friends everywhere who struggle with weight issues....

Let’s hear from you!
