Starting September 1st, we are dedicating 21-days of September to “getting our activity on!”

We have created 3 separate tracks for Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced walkers.  You can walk your miles straight through.  Or you can split them up to amp your activity!  Whatever makes you feel most accomplished, we want you to do!  This is YOUR challenge.  This is YOUR walk!  What better time to take ownership than right here, right now?

For all who wish to participate: the challenge begins on September 1st right in your living room!  It will end on September 29th.  Weekends are FREE DAYS. Use them to get your activity on any way you like – try some interval training, or go for a leisure walk outdoors to enjoy the crisp fall air.  Like to workout on weekends?  Trade two of your weekdays for weekends.  You can customize this challenge to suit your schedule.

Each day will have a MINI CHALLENGE.  You can find these on the calendar below marked with MC.

Beginners: for 21-days, you are walking 3 miles every day.  Remember, this is a challenge.  It’s supposed to be more than what you’re used to.
Intermediates: for 21-days, you are walking 4 miles every day.  We believe in you.  Lace-up those shoes.  You can do this!
Advanced: for 21-days, you are walking 5 miles every day.  This is a big time dedication.  We recommend choosing fast 12-minute miles for a heart-pumping workout in 60 minutes!

Time to choose your track and get ready to WALK STRONG!  Remember, you can amp your activity by spreading your walks and your mini challenges throughout your day.  Or, you can do it all at once!  Whatever floats your boat!

Walk on!

PS: Don’t forget to check in to Facebook and to Tweet DAILY to let us know how you are AMPING your ACTIVITY!  Who knows… you might just win a free prize if you do!

I can not wait to start this challenge! This is just the motivation I need to get back into my workouts! I was doing the 4 mile walk before, so I think I am going to give the 5 mile one a try this time! Thanks Leslie! You are awesome!

I have been walking with Leslie for over a year. This is the first time that I have done one of the challenges. Can someone tell me what the forward bent rows, and plants are?

I have been doing Walk Slim 4 fast miles for a while now. I don't walk everyday so the challenge will be great to get me on the right track. Thanks for the motivation!

Okay, I am going to give it my best shot! I am going for the Intermediate category! Just a question though, I am not familiar with how to do some of the mini challenges. Is there a place to go to see how to do them? I have been walking with you Leslie for a couple of years now but got off track last year but have been at it now since January of this year on my birthday! I could use some examples of how to do some of the mini challenges. Thanks for always walking with me Leslie!!

I love the idea of this challenge. Especially the mini challenges added. Question though I know a lot of these mc exercises but some I don't, Will you be posting these on the walk club page? Or are they on any of your dvds? Having examples might help keep us motivated as we go through each calender day with the challenges listed. Thank you so much for finding ways to get us moving! I am excited about this one!

I am so happy that I have found your DVD. I am a critical care nurse that works 12 hour shifts and gets home exhausted. I did your workout for the first time today and enjoyed myself while working out. Wow !!! I think this is the answer to my exercise problems. It is easy to fit into my busy and hectic schedule. I am ready for the challenge !!!!

Hi Dorothy, Forward bent rows are for the back. Bend at the hips, keeping your knees bent. Then pull your elbows straight up so that they are wrapping around your back. Keep the elbows tight into the body. You can google this as well to get photos! Planks are for the core. Begin by lying on your stomach, face down. Lift your upper body up to your elbows. Keep the hips level so that your body is in a straight line. You can also lift your body to your hands, keeping your shoulders over your wrists! Hope this helps! -The WAH Team

beginners challenge: looks like I started the challenge earlier. We at the seniors exercise club usually do the 1 or 2 mile challenge. We did the 3 mile yesterday. It was a struggle & we had to push ourselves to do it but all 12 of us achieved our goal!! Best part is having the coffee break & socializing after (no desserts or snacks allowed unless you are a diabetic & having & hypo before, during or after the exercise!!!) Maybe thurs. we'll try the 4 mile!!

I'm excited abut this challenge. I need a push to bump things up a notch, and add more variety. This is a great way to kick off Fall and help me be better prepared for hiking in the mountains in a few weeks, for the first time thanks to Leslie and Walk At Home DVD's. This coincides with my annual preparation for the Holidays. I'll get into better exercise habits for Fall, plus be more mindfull of rounded meals, fewer sweets, even better eating habits prior to the Holidays. This really helps me alot by Halloween through New Years. I have been very disciplined the past 2 years, with improvement each year. Thank you very much for being such an inspiration!

Leslie, I hope this finds it way to you... I sincerely want to tell you what a God send you have been for me. I turned 50 in May...went for my annual check-up and learned my cholesterol is high enough for medication. The doctor gave me the option to take control of my life... and I did. I've been running on empty for so long. I had actually bought your 1,2,3,4 Fast Miles package at Costco early in the new year ... and opened it about 5 weeks ago... I was so proud to finish teh 1st mile.. Within a few weeks I was challenging myself to complete the 4 mile... I did the 10 day challenge... possibly 20 days worth... I'm not noticing much difference on the scales by I'm down two sized in my clothes...and I'm starting to see my jaw-line coming back. I was so taken up with you that I googled just about every site out there to learn more about you and your approach... Yesterday I received 4 new dvds in the mail. Walmart charged only .97 per dvd to ship to Newfoundland, Canada... which was great! Anyway, I feel a shift at every level... mind, body and spirit. I feel I've found a guardian angel in you... I've packed on more than 100 pounds over the past 24 years... Experienced a major trauma back then which I never fully recovered from but your program is helping BIG TIME with that now. Thank you for the motivation and leadership and for challenging me gently (as if I'm the only one in the world) to take my life back... With your help I'm finding a way to improve the quality of my life and ideally I'll have a longer one that allows me to spend more quality time being a mother and grandmother to my two angels. As of today, I'm starting the advanced challenge! Can't wait to measure and weigh in after those 21 days!

Previous comment... sent a few moments ago.. I think... I was in the moment and sent a long winded fan letter to Leslie... which included some info on my taking on the challenge ... and pushed comment before I explored things further... about where the comment goes.. Eg... it would be too much to post to the Challenge Blog though I would be okay with sharing some info that is relevant to the challenge.... Trusting your judgement on editing if post to be on your website. If possibly, could you please email me to let me know if you've received either comment...and what will happen to the info? Thank you<

I have walked my 5 miles for the day and just printed the calendar for the daily challenges. I am excited to walk 5 miles a day and change up my routine. Then when the new DVD comes out in October, I will be ready for it.

Will the daily challenges be posted on the blog, too? I don't do Facebook and liked when the challenges were posted here in the past so I would get them to my blog reader.
